Why Should I Buy a Ford F-150?

Why Should I Buy a Ford F-150?

The better question may be why not buy an F-150, but we’ll provide you with a few reasons why you should anyway. Not only did the 2020 Ford F-150 score an impressive 9.1 — the highest of its class — in the U.S. News World Report’s review of the Full Size Pickup Truck category,1 but it’s America’s best-selling pickup by far.2 The burly vehicle has been distinctly popular for years now, and backed by a brand that’s been around for well over a century, the F-150 has earned the right to brag a little. If you’re overwhelmed with the amount of pickup trucks in the market, let’s make it simple for you. Here are seven reasons why you should choose a Ford F-150 for your next truck.

14 Generations of Pure Awesome

We weren’t joking when we said that Ford F-150 pickup trucks are immensely popular. BNN Bloomberg found that the “F-Series is larger than McDonald’s Corp., Nike Inc., Coca-Cola Co. and Starbucks Corp.”3 According to Autoweek, Ford manages to sell an average of 100 F-150 trucks per hour,2 and that “82% of current F-150 owners would rather stop watching Netflix for a year before giving up their truck.”2 Whoa. Ford F-150 truck owners are huge fans of their steely vehicles, and it’s been that way since the beginning.

The F-150 is now in its 14th generation, a testament to just how reliable this truck has been in the American market. The F-Series was introduced in 1948, and since 1982, the F-Series has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S.4 That’s close to four decades. Ford doesn’t mess around when it comes to providing America with high-quality transportation and capability. Each generation saw upgrades in technology, safety and materials used, largely due to Ford’s commitment to innovation and advancement. But no matter which year you choose to pursue as your next work partner, the F-150 will deliver in nearly every category.

Unrivaled Engine Variety

The Ford F-150 fulfills the needs of a variety of lifestyles, and it’s only possible through the diversity of engines available for the consumer to choose from. While engines have changed and been reconsidered over the years, the F-150 always has plenty of drivetrains. For 2020, there are six engines that can be configured to your truck:

  • 3.5-liter EcoBoost®
  • 3.0-liter Power Stroke® turbo diesel
  • High-output 35-liter EcoBoost®
  • 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost®
  • 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V6
  • 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8

New for 2020, all engines have replaced the 6-speed automatic and are paired with the standard 10-speed automatic transmission. Depending on your need, gas and diesel engines are also available. So whether you’ll use your F-150 for work or play (or maybe a mixture of both), the 2020 F-150 has an engine to match.

Outperforming Capability

Why else would you buy a truck if you didn’t want a heavy-hauling machine? And who better than Ford to help you take on the pounds? The Ford F-150 breaks away from other trucks in its class with its impressive towing capabilities by producing a massive 13,200 lbs. available conventional towing rating.5 They don’t say Built Ford Tough® for nothing. Not only that, but Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ is available on the 2020 Ford F-150 for easier trailer maneuvering and placement. It’s a system that tracks your trailer’s position so that you don’t have to coordinate your truck and trailer at the same time.6 Ford understands the stresses and annoyances of the on-the-job workday, which is why the F-150 offers modern technologies to assist in capability and accuracy.

A Steely Exterior

According to Ford, the same body and bed — the high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy 6000 series — that are used in industrial and military applications are found in the 2020 Ford F-150.7 This new frame was introduced back in 2015 with the 13th generation’s debut, and it cut away around 750 pounds for a lighter, stronger truck. So not only does the Ford F-150 boast a higher power-to-weight ratio, but aluminum-alloy also carries a resistance to dents.

Off-Roading Optional But Encouraged

The F-150 Raptor isn’t just for the once-in-a-while enthusiasts or vacation-goers. Supreme off-roading is possible through its flexible shocks and crawl control, and it’s available every single weekend. According to U.S. News World Report, the F-150 Raptor is best for off-roading in the Ford lineup, and features “a torque-on-demand transfer case, an electronic-locking rear differential and Fox Live Valve monotube shocks.”1 If you made it through that sentence, also know that four-wheel drive comes standard on the Raptor and it includes seven driving modes for various terrains. If you’ve found an F-150 trim that you like more, just add the FX4 Off-Road Package for an additional charge (but way more fun). The F-150 feeds the adventure-hungry with discovery: leave no rock unturned.

Interior Amenities

While the exterior was made to intimidate, the cabin of the Ford F-150 is comfortable and spacious enough for any crew (adults or fun-sized). Depending on your configuration, the F-150 can seat up to six people (SuperCrew and SuperCab models only), and all can enjoy the model’s infotainment. The available Sync 3 is being replaced by the available Sync 4 infotainment system that has a massive 15.5-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, Waze and Amazon Alexa integration. Oh, and don’t forget about the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, either.8

Ford Co-Pilot 360™ Technology

With our complicated roads and hazardous driving conditions (and drivers), it would be nice to have a vehicle that actively works with you to keep you protected. With the F-150, a suite of proactive safety features are available to add to your truck. Ford Co-Pilot 360™ technology has the latest improvements in safety, and include:

  • BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Lane-Keeping System
  • Pro-Collision Assist with AEB
  • Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Evasive Steering Assist
  • Reverse Brake Assist
  • Rearview camera
  • Active Park Assist 2.0
  • Auto High-Beam Headlamps
  • BLIS® with Trailer Coverage
  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist™
  • Hill Descent Control™

Finally, the Ford F-150 scores high in reliable safety, so much so that J.D. Power gave the 2020 Ford F-150 a “stellar predicted reliability rating of 4.5 out of five,”1 and the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) rated the 2020 F-150 SuperCrew models with a 5/5 for overall safety.9 It’s not just 2020 models that have five star NHTSA safety ratings: the 2015 F-150 was the first pickup ever to earn the five-pointer.10
