Select Ford models are powered by the EcoBoost® engine, a Ford-exclusive design that delivers raw power and better fuel economy than its larger-sized competitors. The turbocharger in the EcoBoost® uses the force of excess exhaust to push more air into the engine for more power. Otherwise, that energy would have been wasted in a conventional engine, but not with the handy EcoBoost®.

Wanting more details on how the EcoBoost® generates its power? The EcoBoost® uses three primary technologies when it's under the hood of your Ford: direct fuel injection, variable camshaft timing and turbocharging. By precisely measuring the amount of fuel entering the engine at any given time, controlling the intake and exhaust valves to match engine speed and load, and the lightweight design of the turbocharger means your EcoBoost® engine can truly do it all.
