2021 Ford Ecosport: The Best Version Ever?

Every year it seems like new Ford models are getting better and better, and the Ford Ecosport is no exception. The 2021 Ford Ecosport might just be the best version ever, boasting several upgrades over last year’s model. We’ll also see how the 2022 Ecosport is looking to improve on the ‘21 Ecosport’s winning formula. Can it beat the previous year, or is the 2021 Ecosport the best version ever? The 2021 Ford Ecosport boasts a few updates from the 2020 model. These updates include an updated appearance package, and improvements to the SES 4WD trim and Titanium (driver’s seat and seat coverings, respectively.) These will both improve the overall aesthetics and comfort in driving, but the Ecosport still demonstrates impressive power and performance.

The Ecosport Under the Hood

The Ecosport comes standard with a 123 horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder engine. There are also options to upgrade to a four-cylinder engine that gets up to 166 horsepower. Both engines have a six-speed automatic transmission and impressive towing capacities. The four-cylinder engine can handle up to 2000 pounds, and the three-cylinder as much as 1400.

Inside the Ecosport’s Interior

While some other models may possess more luxurious materials in their interiors, they also have higher price tags. The Ecosport does a great job balancing both comfort and practicality in this regard. 

It offers competitive cargo and storage in its deceptively roomy interior. The higher trim options like the SES do a great job of bridging the gap with their more luxurious competition. A sealable vent in the glovebox can also create a climate-controlled environment when used in conjunction with the air conditioning.

Infotainment, Safety, and Driver Assistance

The EcoSport offers two different levels of infotainment upgrades. The improved version is based on Ford’s Sync 3 system. It uses an 8-inch touchscreen with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Base models come standard with Bluetooth compatibility.

The EcoSport earned a four-star crash test rating for the NHTSA, but hasn’t been evaluated by the IIHS. Some key safety features in the Ecosport include available blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

The 2022 Ford Ecosport: Better Than the Best?

Now that we’ve compared the 2021 model, how is the 2022 Ford Ecosport going to measure up? Functionally, very little changed in the new 2022 Ecosport from the 2021 model. While there haven’t been many improvements since 2021, it still is performing at the same standard. Not only that, it’s done so without drastically raising the prices.

This means the 2022 Ecosport is still a great example of getting the most value at a lower cost. It also means used 2021 Ford Ecosports are an even better value for their cost. With the economy in constant flux, we’re all looking to save where we can. This is the kind of deal that you can love both as a driver and as a buyer. Buying a used Ford Ecosport doesn’t mean settling on a bad price for a good drive, or vice-versa.
